my first quilt

camille over at simplify is having a parade of quilts. we are to show off our first quilt and then our last quilt we've completed.

so here it is, in all it's glory. my first quilt. it is a rag quilt and i along with 5 other women all walked away with the same quilt. i will forever hold on to this quilt for it reminds me of how stressed out i was (so stressed out i probably had diarrhea) just thinking about attempting this quilt, but with the help of my friends i was able to accomplish my first quilt of many to come and to realize i can do this.
this one is my quilt most recently completed in my house. i have some waiting to be quilted at the quilters , and i made the one for the moda bake shop...but this one is mine all mine and lives at the end of my bed and is completely loved

but this is my most recently "quilty" project that i finished, the dresden plate. i was proud to get out of my comfort zone of squares and triangles. and super excited that i don't get diarrhea every time i try something new anymore.

The quilts are gorgeous and you should be proud of your first attempt at quilting - it looks so snuggly. I also love your pin wheel quilt and have been itching to make one - can you please tell me what pattern you used?

So great that you didn't stop with your lovely first quilt. I love your works and they give so much inspiration for my own journey with quilting. Thanks for sharing

Yeah! I was hoping you'd do it, but I know things are always crazy over there. What a great friend you are! (even though we never talk). ;-) Love your quilts, but you already knew that. Thanks for joining in!

Okay I can relate to the getting sick when excited thing! That's totally funny, what a great way to start my morning reading this! The quilts are amazing as usual!

I just posted yesterday and mine was a rag quilt too!
Note to all beginners, this is a good place to start.
I love your quilts and those pinwheels are pretty!

I just started my first quilt inspired by you! I have always been so intimidated by all the small pieces in quilting that I swore I would never attempt one. Then my youngest daughter fell in love with the pinwheel quilt in your header and I caved. Now I am working on one for both my girls and I have given myself permission to not worry about perfection. Thanks for the inspiration, I read you all the time and I know I can do it!

I love your quilts! Your rag quilt looks so warm and cozy. I read your blog ALL the time and go back for reference when I am working on a project. Today I will post my first quilted table runner and linking to your tutorial for the binding. Thank you so much for your lesson! I was scared to death to try it, but you made it look less intimidating with your step by step. I am also in the process of collecting fabric for the "in the meadow" quilt. We will see how long before I tackle that mountain though! :o)
Have a great day!!
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne

Love them all - thank you for sharing your firsts and lasts - it has been fun to see how far people have come in their quilting - it has given me hope - LOL!!

Beautiful. My first quilt, I tried to figure it out on my own and I was so stressed out I cried and cried when I made a mistake. Hubby said go get more fabric and the "right" tools and do it again.

Well V - you have progressed! Though your first quilt looks pretty good I must say! I've been wanting to make one of those kind too. Might try it now that I know it was your first one! Your most recent one is amazing! So simple in design and color. And I love your hoop projects too. You always come up with the best designs. I even found one of those card holder things at the Salvation Army - inspired by the one you repainted and it was only $1.99. Found another version of it too that I hope to use in the quilt studio somehow. Still not painted though so you are one up on me..... Jenn

I love it all!

I've only completed 2 quilts so it wouldn't be too hard for me to come up with my first & last quilts. Although my first quilt lives 2 hours away with my 6 month old niece!
You have beautiful quilts!

V...I love your quilts! The first one what grabs me is the color combination and the pinwheel one is just pure beauty! Have an awesome day and watch for my quilts soon to join the parade!

Your quilts are beautiful. I've been wanting to try a Dresden plate but don't feel I'm ready quite yet. I'll be posting mine later today!

I very much love all your quilts and appreciate the time taken to do each one, as I am a novice quilter. I can't tell you exactly why, but the PINWHEEL pattern is my favorite of them all. I think it's the bright happy colors with the white for contrast. I love yours and would love to make one like it! Which pattern did you use or did you just wing it?
I am new to your blog and am very much enjoying it!
XOXO

Hi V! I love all the quilts ~ especially the one with the cute feet! Okay, the pinwheels are my favorite ~ even to the binding! Except that I also love the embroidery hoops with the Dresden Plate and fabric ~ that's a very cool idea! (And the DP is pretty awesome too.)

I think I can put you down on the list of folks who have never made a bad quilt... Camille's green quilt had better be awful or I'm not posting a picture of my "green thing!" Of course, even if her quilt was icky, she'd still take such a fabulous picture that it wouldn't matter... it would still look gorgeous... :)

I just laughed out loud much to my husband dislike as he is sleeping next to me. The diarrhea is hilarious it almost made me pee my pants

Kim said...

That's no fun getting diarrhea every time you quilt and I'm glad you don't suffer much any more. I loved your quilts and the dresden plate is so bright and it makes me happy.

Why is it that your first quilt could be my last quilt? I love it.
I do like your las tmuch better though and your colour sense is always wonderful.

Are you kidding?! It's so beautiful! So cute!

You're so talented AND efficient. I can't get myslef to make ONE little tiny quilt. I'm too chicken and I'm blaming it on not having a crafting/sewing space that doesn't double as another space, like the kitchen table.

I love your blog and have been following you for a while. In fact, I used your tutorial to make the bandana skirt and posted it on my site. simplymodernmom.wordpress.com. Thanks for all your ideas!

Lara said...

I love the quilts. I especially love the most recent one that you made just for you. I'm wondering how much you would charge to make another one like it? The colors and the feel of it are perfect for my living room :) Just let me know when you have a chance - larafransen@gmail.com

Thanks - and keep up the great work!

I so love the pinwheels. I have completed 2 quilts and 1 is still in the works since last year because of all the triangles. It just seems so hard and frustrating but since I saw your GORGEOUS pinwheels I feel in love and went to the quilt store and bought some fabric to start my own pinwheels today! Thanks for being so inspiring!
